First-Time Paintball Guide in York, Maine

Can beginners play at Birch Hill?

Birch Hill offers paintball rentals and hosts birthday groups, walk-on players and teams in York, Maine. You can request a rental package without owning a marker. Tell the field that you are new when you inquire.

Before you leave home

1. Confirm the date, hours, weather and which fields are available.
2. For a group, confirm the number of players, age range, rentals and whether you want private play.
3. Ask which waiver is currently required and who must sign for a minor. Ask whether the form on Birch Hill’s waiver page is current and who needs to sign it.
4. Discuss clothing, footwear, equipment fit and any access needs with the field before arriving.

Equipment and field instructions

Published rental packages include masks and chest protectors. Ask staff how to fit and use the equipment, and follow the field’s current rules and briefing. Ask where protective equipment must remain on, which areas are designated for staging, and how to request help during play.

Paintball involves physical activity and risk. Equipment and supervision do not remove every risk. The field’s briefing, waiver and staff instructions govern play.

How old do birthday players need to be?

The published small-group birthday package is for ages 10 and up. Confirm each group’s eligibility with Birch Hill. Do not assume that another park’s lower age limits or low-impact options apply here.

Which field should we choose?

• Woods: trees and wooden cover.
• Hyperball: pipe bunkers on grass.
• X-Ball: inflatable bunkers and team practice.

Availability and layouts vary. Explore the three fields and ask which suits your group.

Do we need a reservation?

Request a reservation for parties and team practice. Regular walk-on hours are Saturday and Sunday, 10am–4pm Eastern Time, subject to field and weather updates. Friday nights are reservation-only, 5pm–9pm, with at least 15 players.
